McGregor's family issues statementBaseball Betting Lines08/30/2010 - San Francisco, CA (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The family of late Colorado Rockies president Keli McGregor issued a statement Monday, saying he died of a rare virus that infected the heart muscle. McGregor was found dead in a Salt Lake City hotel room on April 20, while he was on a business trip with other team executives. He was just 48 years old. On Monday, McGregor's family gave details on the cause of his death, saying the virus disrupted the electrical pathways that signal the heart to beat properly. "The heart muscle may have recovered from the viral attack had these electrical pathways not been destroyed, but the muscle may have been permanently weakened and destined for eventual heart failure," the statement said. "This infectious process most likely occurred during the last week of Keli's life, causing nothing more than flu-like symptoms." The statement said McGregor was an advocate for early detection and prevention of cardiovascular disease, lived an active life, and had his cardiovascular status evaluated regularly. "Like you, we miss Keli every minute of every day," the statement said. "We're so very grateful for the love and support shown to our family and we wanted to share this information with all of those who, like us, have searched for answers." McGregor was named Rockies president in October 2001, and joined the organization after serving as associate athletic director at Arkansas. The native of Iowa who grew up in suburban Denver was a two-time All-American tight end at Colorado State and was taken in the fourth round of the 1985 NFL Draft by Denver. He played for Denver, Indianapolis and Seattle before retiring.

They have good pass rushers, and they're going to try to pressure us, I'm sure." Both center Jeff Saturday and quarterback Peyton Manning gave New Orleans’ front four props, admitting keeping guys like Will Smithand Charles Grant contained would be a tall task for the offensive line. New Orleans ranked second in total defense during the preseason at a sportsbook, allowing just under 233 yards per game. Last season, the defense finished 11th in the league after giving up 307.3 yards and 20.1 points per contest. The Hawks traded linebacker Julian Peterson in the offseason, so Curry is expected to have a significant role in Seattle's defense next year and that's one of the primary reasons he is the favorite to win the NFL ROY Award. Oddsmakers from online sportsbook MySportsbook.com have made Curry a 5/1 favorite to win this year's NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year Award. Given that he was the best defensive prospect in this year's draft and how he'll have plenty of opportunities to make plays in '09, Curry offers a ton of value at 5/1. Another thing working for Curry is the position he plays. A linebacker has won the defensive ROY award six straight times and eight of the last nine years. All the players mentioned above are expected to start for their respective teams, but Jackson and Peria are going to have a tough time being recognized on a national level given they're both defensive linemen. D-linemen rarely put up the numbers that it takes to win an individual award like the ROY. A couple of players with some value are Clay Matthews (Packers) at 12/1 and Larry English (Chargers) at 15/1. Matthews is expected to start at outside linebacker in Green Bay's new 3-4 defense and could rack up a ton of tackles. English, who was an impressive player at Northern Illinois, is expected to be a situational pass rusher for the Chargers and could rack up a ton of sacks.
